Admin Panel

The Yesterdays admin panel is located at /admin/. You will be prompted to login with your OpenStreetMap account, just like the rest of the site. All content on Yesterdays can be edited in this panel.

Etiquette

You are running an instance of Yesterdays for your area, cool! This is an opportunity to build a community. As people discover the site and contribute metadata to it, they will feel a sense of investment and ownership. After all, their work is what makes Yesterdays valuable.

With this in mind, I humbly make the following suggestions to you.

  • Do not edit user-contributed data. Even if you disagree with it, or it has an obvious typo. If you do wish to edit e.g. a comment, I strongly recommend that you contact that user first to seek their permission.
  • Similarly, do not edit source metadata. Please keep it faithful to the source, even if it is wrong. Georeference notes and comments will quickly get to the root of any discrepencies.
  • Find your power users, and enable them. If someone starts contributing heavily to your site, get in touch with them and encourage them. Build trust quickly, and share administrative privileges once you can stomach it.
